World famous festivals include the Talkeetna Winterfest, a full month of winter fun kicked off by the Bachelor Auction and Ball on the first weekend in December. This festival is famous for its Wilderness Woman Contest. Also held in December are numerous craft bazaars and holiday gatherings open to the public.

The summer events include the Mountain Mother Contest held the second Saturday in July during the Talkeetna Moose Dropping Festival.
